The Jaidon Joseph Smith Educational Scholarship Foundation is proud to announce the expansion of its scholarship program to serve even more GT/LD students across Montgomery County Public Schools.
Founded in loving memory of Jaidon Joseph Smith, a Walter Johnson High School graduate and GT/LD student whose life and spirit continue to inspire us, the Foundation was created to honor his legacy by uplifting students who learn differently and persevere with courage, creativity, and determination. Since 2021, we have been honored to award nearly $40,000 in scholarships and awards to 13 GT/LD students, helping them take confident steps toward their futures.
Beginning this year, the Foundation is expanding eligibility for its senior scholarships beyond Walter Johnson High School to include Watkins Mill High School and Northwood High School. This growth reflects our continued commitment to reaching more students, families, and educators who share our belief in the limitless potential of GT/LD learners.
Scholarships and Awards
Eligible GT/LD students may apply for the following:
- Scholarship Award – $10,000 ($2,500 annually for up to four years; one recipient each year)

- Gap Year Award – $500 (one-time; multiple recipients)
- Recognition Award – $250 (one-time; multiple recipients)

We are deeply grateful to the educators, coordinators, donors, and supporters who make this work possible. Together, we are creating opportunities that honor Jaidon’s legacy and empower students to soar.
